Attention San Miguel clients!
If you live in or near San Miguel de Allende, now you can have your US
income taxes prepared quickly and professionally in Mexico, without having
to return to the US!
Taxes in Mexico now has a Satellite Administrative Office in San Miguel de
Allende. This office is available for you to drop off your tax
information, and the paperwork will be transmitted to Chapala for
preparation. When complete, all your paperwork will be sent back to San
Miguel, along with a paper copy of your return. Most returns are filed
electronically, and you will receive your refund directly into your bank
account. (If your return is not possible to file electronically, you will
receive an extra copy ready for mailing). You will receive an email when
the return has been submitted.
Our new Satellite Administrative Office is at Lavinia's Arte Framing
Shop, located at Refugio Sur #35, Colonia San Antonio in San Miguel.
The phone is (415) 154-5344, and their hours are Monday to Friday 9:00 am
to 2:00 pm and 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm, and Saturday 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. They
have been in San Miguel for over 15 years, and many of you are probably
very familiar with their shop, or have used their services.
There will be a very short interview, just to make sure that all the
necessary information is included. (This office is not available for
technical or tax advice, but only to send your materials on to Chapala).

Please bring the following paperwork with you:

A copy of your 2008 return
-
Any "official" paperwork you have received, like 1099's, brokerage tax
reports (year-end, not month by month), W-2s, K-1s, etc. Remember:
Missing papers can be faxed directly at no charge to 303-474-6460! You
don't have
to wait for the mail!

Records of stock sales, including purchase dates and basis, if not
included with the brokerage tax report

A voided US check for direct deposit or withdrawal (not a deposit slip)

Personal information: Birth dates for anyone on your return, names and
Social Security numbers if not listed elsewhere, the address you wish to
use for the return, your email and phone contact information

Information on special circumstances: You will be asked whether you paid
estimated taxes (amounts and dates paid), whether you have a US rental
(needs depreciation schedule), if you work in Mexico (needs Form 2555
information), if you itemize deductions, if you need to file a State
return in the US (need date of move to Mexico),
and if there are any special situations regarding your return.
You will receive a personal email acknowledging receipt of your
information. We will talk on the phone to fill in details, cover how you
would prefer to make payment, and answer any questions. Payment is
available through PayPal or Bancomer deposit.
Costs for this service to cover personnel and overnight mailing costs are
$40 per return. If you prefer, you may also scan and email all paperwork
yourself, and can receive a PDF file of your return for your records, and
notice of e-file acceptance.
Fees listed on our website are lower than most US preparers! Plus we
are experienced in foreign tax issues, we are available here in Mexico,
and we make it easy for you to handle your US income taxes from San
Miguel.
